Best laptops for coders

In the world of programming and coding, having the right machine can make all the difference. The task of a programmer is very demanding, and to make sure it's not frustrating and time-consuming you must write and deploy code from a capable laptop.

If you are just starting, or have years of coding experience, this is the right article for you! Running complex software on a 5th gen Intel Core i5 Processor is not going to cut it for you, you need a more efficient laptop.

However, the good news is that the most expensive laptop is probably not something you require, so let's dive into the basic tech specs that would be sufficient for complex tasks, so you have a seamless coding journey.

RAM

As a coder, some of the software that you would be using are Microsoft Visual Studio, Code editor and iTerm Terminal, both the softwares have good performance on 8gb RAM and since the work is not visually demanding an 8gb laptop is sufficient.

Hard Disk

To start, most laptops have SSD's today, but there are some laptops with Sata HDD, at Equipp we make sure all our budget laptops have SSD as well because this plays a major role in making sure the OS boots up quickly, and the code is compiled at the speed you desire, essentially providing faster performance.

Today we are using the cloud to store most of our data for security and data loss reasons, so until or unless you have large images and files that need to be stored on your laptop, 256gb SSD is more than enough

Processor

We recommend, using an Intel Core i7 as it is a powerful processor, however, if budget is a constraint, then going with an i5 laptop and investing in higher RAM would be the priority, which would make sure it is a reliable laptop with good computational power.

Macbook vs Windows laptops

This is a choice of preference and is subjective, generally, a Macbook is preferred because it is developer-friendly as there is zero lag, and great security features.  However, the only point to keep in mind is that the laptop needs a Linux OS. If you are using a Macbook you do not need to install the Linux software because MacOS and Linux are both UNIX based.

On a side note, a powerful graphics card is probably not the highest priority for you, until or unless you are in the field of game development where a vivid color scheme display is vital for optimal performance.

Recommended Laptops for Programming

1. 16-Inch MacBook Pro

A 16-inch Macbook a great option, because as a coder, you will be looking at multiple lines of code at the same time, in the same spot. Hence, a larger screen is better. We recommend our 16-inch display with high processing power and a sleek design. These laptops come with 512gb internal storage capacity, 16gb RAM for speed and Intel Core i7 for software performance. Making it a powerful laptop.

To conclude, if you are looking for a Macbook the above laptops are a great starting point, however, if a Windows budget-friendly laptop is what you are here for, then starting with a Dell i7, 16gb RAM and 256gb SSD will be a good balance between performance and finances.
